Malvern Hills: Fri, 20th Apr 2012 - Sun, 22nd Apr 2012

Area: Other

The Berrow House bunk house is located on the A438 Tewkesbury-Ledbury road. Access by public transport would be via Ledbury and then a local bus.
This location, at the foot of a “pass” between two hills in the Malvern range, is perfect for walks in and around the ridge, particularly the southern half which is less visited and more picturesque than the northern. Rising from the plain of the Vale of Evesham to the East and with the hills and mountains of Wales to the West, the Malverns offer many magnificent vistas (on a clear day!). There are frequent woods where we may see the bluebells (if they are early) for which the hills are famous. The market town of Ledbury is only 6 km away and will be on our Saturday walk. Climbs are generally easy.
Berrow House dates back to the 1800's. Then Berrow House was part of the Eastnor Estate and consisted of the house and a number of timber workshops and stables for the Estate. Today Berrow House is a private property but retains, like the rest of the properties in the hamlet, that olde worlde character. There is no pub at Holly Bush but two within a couple of km.
