Ibex is a fun, friendly and inexpensive way to get out and enjoy the hills and mountains in the UK and abroad. We welcome everyone interested in mountain and hill walking at all levels from beginners to experienced mountaineers. Our weekend walks offer a range of options from sedate hill walking to scrambling and mountaineering. Ibex members have trekked extensively throughout the UK and regularly organise trips further afield. In 2007, members went to the Dolomites and Nepal. 2008 has seen trips to the Alps and Morocco and Ibex has even branched out to include some sailing in Greece. More trips abroad are planned for 2010. That is in addition to the weekends away and day walks in the UK.
Before joining Ibex we would recommend that you try out a day walk with us and perhaps a weekend to make sure that the club is right for you.
Our monthly pub and restaurant meetings are other ideal ways of meeting existing members. You can just turn up for any of the pub meets but booking is essential for the restaurant evenings. Please use the Contact Us form for further information. |

Although each weekend varies depending on location and number of walkers, the common theme for most weekends is: ◊ We head off on a Friday evening sharing cars or arranging a pick up at a station for those using public transport. Petrol costs are shared between driver and passengers.
◊ We generally cook and eat as a group with everyone helping with the meal preparation. If there are no catering facilities then we generally eat at a local pub.
◊ There are a selection of walks organised which anyone is welcome to join.
◊ A wide variety of inexpensive accommodation is used - bunkhouses, mountaineering huts, hostels, camping barns and campsites. There is a link off to the accommodation next to each trip description.
◊ The cost of accommodation is kept to around £10 to £15 per person per night plus travel costs.
◊ The cost of food is usually around £5 per person per night. Please bring any alcoholic drinks with you.
◊ Everyone has a great time. |

YHA Membership - we have a club membership card which means that you can use it at any youth hostel, providing there are at least 5 people (and at least one Ibex member) staying in the hostel. As long as you have the card with you the others in the group don't need to join the YHA. Please use the Contact Us form to get the card. Discounts - the following retailers should offer a discount on production of an Ibex membership card for in-store purchases. The discount offered is typically 10%, although this may vary from store to store, and may not apply to all products or to sale items. See the BMC for a list of retailers. |

Annual membership runs from January to December each year. For new members who join in the months of October, November or December, membership runs for the whole of the following year.
