Friday 1st to Monday 4th May (May Bank Holiday) The Gordon Walker chalet in Stair, near the Newlands Valley, has been booked for the early May bank holiday weekend. This purpose-built accommodation has room for 16, and is an excellent location for getting on to any of the fells that surround Keswick, including Skiddaw, Grasmoor and the Buttermere Fells; ascents of Catbells, Maiden Moor, Causey Pike, Hindscarth and Robinson all start within 30 minutes walk. The chalet, run by the Rambler’s Association, has a drying room, common room and kitchen and appears to be very comfortable. So why not wander lonely as a cloud (or in good company) in the Lakes in Spring-time? |
