Join James for a Christmas celebration to round off a (hopefully!) active and exciting Ibex year of hiking and outdoor pursuits. There will be a dinner to the usual Ibex standards, a secret Santa and maybe (certainly!) something fizzy... The weekend is being held at the spacious and comfortable YHA in Hathersage, towards the eastern side of the ‘Dark Peak’. The main building of the YHA features a decent kitchen, lounge, dining room and drying room, with three rooms. We also have access to an annex with a further five bedrooms.
There is great hiking straight from the YHA up to the Stanage Edge escarpment and onto the moors surrounding Ladybower Reservoir. Edale/Kinder Scout is a short drive/train hop away, giving the possibility of some creative linear routes! For those who fancy some cold Gritstone, there are nearby climbing options too.
The weekend is very easy to get to by train with the hostel being just 700 metres away from Hathersage railway station. This, coupled with some parking restrictions at the hostel, makes it look very attractive to save yourself the drive and let the train take the strain!
